Within Australia, the Centre has carried out projects and consultancies for numerous local, State/Territory and federal government organisations. These provide a cost-effective and best practice approach for clients, capitalising on the specialist skills of the Centre's staff and Associates. They are also important in ensuring that the Centre maintains a practical involvement with current developments in Australian government, in order to underpin its educational programs.

Pacific Project: The Commonwealth Local Government Forum Pacific Project works with national and local government and other stakeholders in the Pacific region to strengthen local democracy and improve service delivery.

Aspiring Leaders Program The ACELG Aspiring Leaders Program aims to identify and showcase the best of existing leadership programs from around the country targeted at 'aspiring leaders' in local government. In addition, future work and discussions will continue to explore where there are 'gaps' in content and/or availability - Discussion Paper
Review of Excellence Frameworks: Local government uses a number of tools to promote excellence and continuous improvement. On behalf of ACELG, the Centre is undertaking a number of exploratory studies to inform the development of an upgraded excellence framework for local government . Read more
NSW Cancer Council: Working with the NSW Cancer Council, the Centre recently prepared several fact sheets which aim to assist councils in promoting healthy lifestyles and preventing cancer. Link to Fact Sheets.
Learning in Local Government: The 'Learning in Local Government Project' is an exploratory review of the unique and complex needs of education and professional development in Australian local government, and it aims to inform and facilitate programs to be developed over the life of ACELG. Read more
IP&R Capacity Building: The Centre is working with a number of councils in building their internal capacity to respond to the new Integrated Planning and Reporting reforms - these councils include Richmond Valley, Yass Valley, Snowy River Shire, Warrumbungle Shire, Queanbeyan City, Kiama, Willoughby, Dungog Shire and Tweed Shire.
